Well...where to begin??? It sure has been a LONG time since i have updated this blog. I have good intentions of course, but I seem to never have the time. Working, going to school, doing clinicals, being a great wife, and being an even greater MOM seem to take all of my time. I read many blogs at night to de-stress but never seem to have the time to update my own and let me tell you we have been B-U-S-Y!!
Let's start with the summer of 2010! In May we went to Playa del Carmen to see Jose's fraternity brother Roque marry Diana and of course no trip would be complete without Ipolito! The trip was so much fun and we had a blast as a family. Ipolito LOVED the water, the food, and was great on the airplane (with a little help of some Benadryl). On our first night there he actually peed on me! It was embarrassing but at the same time....what are you gonna do?! It was also a little weird having to go cut our nights shorter than everyone else but well worth it. One night we went to an Italian restaurant and the chef brought out Ipolito's food before ours (they know hungry kiddos when they see them) and I'll be darned the boy scarfed it down fast and was asking for more. We spoke to the waiter and soon the chef himself brought out the food to us. He wanted to meet the little boy who ate so much. To our surprise he ate all of this as well! Everyone at the resort knew us too! I guess it is beneficial having a little boy with such a unique name.
This summer we also had what I referrred to "Activity Day" with my nephews Marcus, Cezar, and Jack Jack. My mom, sister, and I would take the boys to Six Flags, Chuck E Cheese, or the pool. Ipolito had so much fun at Six Flags and rode all of the rides he could. He loved watching the big boys and getting out of the stroller every now and then to ride some rides himself. As the summer progressed he actually got mad when he wasn't able to get on the ride too. We also discovered that Ipolito and I have something in common with Grandma: we LOVE popcorn so much! The boys enjoyed it as well. Ipolito enjoyed the pool and really loved just splashing around as much as he could. He isn't afraid of the water as his mother is.
Now Chuck E. Cheese was an adventure all by itself. Jack Jack got sick from spinning round and round on the merry-go-round and ended up throwing up on the way there and at Chuck's two times. All that aside, Ipolito enjoyed himself. He did not want to ride any of the little rides there, but of course he loved anything that had to do with balls. He enjoyed the basketball game and the other ball game that was there.
Throughout the summer Ipolito became such as great sleeper. He went to bed at 9 and woke up anywhere from 730-815. It was bliss! I would do school work when he went to sleep and we got into a comfortable cycle. Finally I had my sleep back, not as long as before Ipolito, but more than i had been getting.
He also spoke more words and loved his peanut butter crackers, fruit snacks, and all fruit. He had a very strict schedule and I saw him flourish intellectually. He enjoyed his books at night and even began picking them out. His favorite books this summer were, "Goodnight Moon" and "Night Night Prayer." We have the same routine every single night. He takes a bath, we read stories, say our prayers, and go to bed. He says, "Amen" and from time to time wil try to say the "Our Father."
Ipolito also loves to dance and watch Elmo. I wish I remembered specifically which words he was saying at the time, but I do not. I know he went through a phase of saying only "Mama" when he referred to either of us. He speaks so much now and I know he did then as well. I do remember that he has always LOVED anything round and bouncy. Everything is a ball to him and he loves all types.
Keep a look out for a post on our Fall.
